Sheffield
My parents spent lots of time in Sheffield later in life. My dad played and coached hockey his entire life. At some point in his 60’s he started playing for North of England and then the England Masters Team. This saw them in Sheffield for training sessions, competitive games and socialising with wonderful people.

The Yorkshire Dales
Our family have many fond memories of The Yorkshire Dales; hiking, climbing, pot holing… I’m now laughing as maybe wading in ice cold water, up to my armpits, through caves aged only 6 might not be too fond! My dad spent years teaching rock climbing in and around the craggs of Kirkby Lonsdale.

Edinburgh
My mum said Scotland as a location and I believe she meant the Isle of Skye - this was a very special spot for my parents. It was somewhere my dad requested to visit in his last few months. Just like then, we sadly can’t make it that far so Edinburgh will make a great location to represent Scotland.

Northumberland
We’ve had many family adventures on the North East coast; walking, bivouacking, camping and more. I remember a family visit to Druridge Bay before dad’s symptoms started - he was running around the beach swinging kelp for the dog. Its also where my dad did his first triathlon aged 70!

Newcastle::Gateshead
What can I say… its the last leg to finish on childhood home turf. My parents were both born and bred in Newcastle Upon Tyne. My childhood family home, of 40 years, in Gateshead is still where mum lives today. A life time of family memories! Feels like the right location to complete my challenge.
